Course Overview

This week-long course will examine the key issues faced when developing and promoting trade policy. Crucial political and economic frameworks that influence decision making will be covered, in addition to in-depth analyses of case studies such as the European Union and the role of the World Trade Organisation.

In 2015, the UNCTAD noted that there are approximately 20 targets in different SDGs that are related to international trade, demonstrating the scale of social and economic interdependence. The impact trade can have on peace, stability and infrastructure development is vital to the welfare and economic security of any nation. Similarly, international trade is also open to the influece of changes in the global political and economic climate, such as the UK's decision to leave the European Union. Leading experts will examine these issues through presentations, debates and discussions of both theory and practical examples in order to provide participants with an in-depth, practical and contextualised knowledge of international trade.

Upon completion of this course and subsequent successful completion of CMI written tasks, the successful candidate will be awarded a Level 7 CMI certificate in Management & Leadership showing the CMI units achieved. The CMI is the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence. The professional qualifications offered by the Institute are internationally recognised and sought after.
